When I was a student, our teacher once asked the meaning of patriotism? I raised my hand and replied that holding ‘subz hilali parcham’ and chanting slogans in streets ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ on Independence Day defined patriotism. With the passage of time, I grew up and realized that I was wrong, and patriotism is loving and also taking care of our beloved motherland just like a mother takes care of her child. Loving your country also means obeying the laws, paying taxes and your utility bills. Acquiring and imparting knowledge and simple things such as proper disposing of garbage in a health-friendly manner, hence taking steps collectively and individually for the betterment of our beloved country is the real meaning of patriotism.
my letter also got published see link below
With the passing days issue of enforced disappearance becoming more and more serious which is not only adding fuel into fire of insurgency, increasing disappointment and mistrust of relatives of missing person and creating bad image of country in world community but also it is a question mark on the credibility of state laws.
It is clear from ground realties and by the evidence presented before the apex court who are behind this Crime; abducting and subsequently throwing their mutilated bodies. Why illegal tactics are being used to curb the insurgency? Is rebellion not a crime as per the statutes of state or there is no judicial mechanism to try one who involved crime against state?
Inflicting extra judicial and barbaric punishment proved that so-called patriots have no confidence on judicial process of country and they consider themselves superior to state’s authorities.
It is source of embarrassment that democratic government paying no heeds on the orders of apex court and become paralyze to prevent violation of article 10A of constitution “Right to fair trial” and crime against humanity.
Government must take measures to prevent kill and dump policy. Insurgency can only be defeated by making effective justice system and ensuring rule of law. Enemies of states must be dealt according to laws of the land.
Muslim brotherhood, who always preferred to political struggle over armed struggle, is now struggling for its survival as in July last year military chief Gen Abdul Fattah al-Sisi overthrown elected government of Mohammad Morsi and subsequently start persecution of leaders of Muslim Brotherhood. Since coup hundreds of civilian had died mostly supporters of Mohammad Morsi. Prima facie Egyptian interim government is carrying out cruel tactics to uproot a political force and to curb the strong anti-coup movement firstly government banned Muslim brotherhood and then soon after car bomb attack on police building on 24th December declared it a “terrorist” group although a Al Qaida affiliated group had claimed responsibility of car bomb attack on police.
It is responsibility of world leaders, particularly of Muslim world to play their role and compel Egyptian government either restate the elected government of Mohammad Mosri or announce immediate fresh election under the supervision of neutral care taker set up along with lifting ban on Muslim brotherhood that all political forces can participate in election.
Strategically important, rich in resources but backward Balochistan engulfed with full-blown insurgency, sectarian violence and target killing posing threat to national integrity amidst holding local governments polls is a appreciateble step but main task for government is transfer of enough powers that local representatives can efficiently solve problems of the people at their home.
One of main cause of insurgency in Balochistan is people’s lack of trust on Federation as nationalist and separatist alleged establishment interference in political matters and willfully neglecting and depriving province of his due rights. So trust building measures like transplant and consistent conducting of polls without establishment’s interference, empowering local representatives are imperative to baloch people in national bond which eventually leads towards harmony and prosperity.
